I am so excited to announce that we will be starting a daytime Bible study next Thursday, October 20th!! This is the first time since I have been at LCC that we have had a daytime study, and although we realize that it is inconvenient for many people, we also recognize that there are several women at our church who are available at this time of day and are hungering for growth and fellowship. Marion Hunt decided to take the bull by the horns and start a study for those who are in that boat. (Thanks, Marion!)
The Bible study will be each Thursday morning from 9:30 – 11:30 AM. We will be studying Beth Moore’s Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent, and the study will be at Hope Warfel’s house. There will be child care available for a fee.
At the first meeting on October 20th we will introduce the study, have some light refreshments, discuss child care costs, ordering books, etc. If you are interested in attending the Bible study (or even think you might be!), please email Marion Hunt today. We need to know how many child care workers to hire, how many books we are likely to need, etc. Marion’s email address is email@example.com.
I hope you can join us as we dive deeper in God’s word and GROW!!
On Saturday, August 27th, about 20 women from Life Community got together for a beautiful morning of food and fellowship. The theme was “seasons” and each table was decorated for a season of the year. We watched a video about women in different seasons of life, and we celebrated that God never changes, regardless of the season in which we are living.
The fall holds a lot of fun activities and events for women’s ministry. We can’t wait to see what God has in store for the ladies in our church!

Women’s Ministry celebrated its final event of the summer by gathering with our kids at the Governor’s Club swimming pool. Five women and eleven kids got together for some basic, old-fashioned fun, and a good time was had by all! There are no photos to share because the ladies did not appreciate having their pictures taken. 😉
As we prepare to start our fall schedule, we are going to do things a little differently than we have in the past. Instead of simply sending a mass email with a list of events, we are going to gather together to properly kick off the new season. This is an opportunity for everyone to gather together at the same time to worship, plan, and have some fellowship. Save the date for Saturday morning, August 27th, as we will have a women’s brunch to kick off a new year. There will be delicious food, surprises, a speaker, and several opportunities to learn about the direction women’s ministry is taking in our church and how you can be involved. We only have two big events per year: the women’s retreat in the spring and this fall kickoff brunch (which we hope will become a tradition), so we want to have as many women from the church there as we can. Put it on your calendar right now and invite all your friends. We hope to see you there!
Our first ever crafting event was a hit! There is nothing like a new craft to see everyone’s personalities! Many thanks to Jen Kendall for preparing our craft. This event was so successful and fun, we’ve decided to do another one before the holidays. It will be a great opportunity to make meaningful homemade gifts. Stay tuned!
Don’t forget our last Women’s Ministry Pool Day is Thursday, August 4th from 9 – Noon at the Governor’s Club. Just give Mary Ellen Andrews’s name at the gate and head to the resident’s pool. We hope to see you there with your kids!
There are many great things on the docket for fall, but we are in need of more volunteers to make them happen. If you’d like to help assist in hosting or coordinating one of our events, please email Melissa at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We’re looking forward to a great August!

Some friends of mine from Memphis, TN have brought this to my attention and I thought you all should read it as well.
Facebook affairs March 12, 2009

While we’re on the subject of facebook…I’m wondering if anyone else has heard of this new trend in the social network world: Facebook Affairs.
The most common scenario: Person A gets a facebook account, finds Person B – long lost fling – starts poking, wall messaging, sending little green trees (sorry, i hate that app)…before you know it, there is an emotional affair happening over the world wide web.
One article I read called these people “retrosexuals”.
I’ve had two people that I know tell me someone important in their life has almost ruined their marriage with a facebook affair.
Obviously there are no hard statistics at this point – but I wonder if anyone else has known of someone reconnecting with an old flame only to have it threaten their marriage?
Here’s one crazy story online. Continue reading
