In light of the fun and success of our community pool party in June, we decided that the perfect way to hang out with friends and beat the heat for July was to host a community slip-n-slide! Last Friday evening we rented out the land next to the Nolensville Tennis Courts and set up a huge slip-n-slide complete with sprinklers and lots of… VEGETABLE OIL! It was a super fun evening and the students had a lot of fun hanging out with friends. This was our first event after dividing up our ministry into two meetings on Sunday nights: one for the High-schoolers and one for the Middle-schoolers. We are excited to see growth in our Student ministry and are excited to host many more events this school year for both age-groups!
July 3-9 the student ministry travelled to Orange Beach, Alabama to participate in summer camp through Student Life Ministries. Along with about 1,000 other students our students learned about the word Devoted and how we are called to be Devoted to our walk with God. It was an exciting week for our students as they were challenged to learn about how God is first and foremost devoted to us and how our love for Him is to be in response to that. The camp pastor was JR Vassar and worship was led by Aaron Keyes. It was an awesome time for our students to come together as a youth group and be challenged in teaching.
It’s been another exciting summer in the student ministry at Life Community Church! In addition to our regular Sunday night bible studies, a fun week of camp at Orange Beach, AL and students being involved in helping with the children’s ministry’s VBS, we’ve had some exciting events of our own. Part of our goal in the youth ministry is the train and equip students to engage their friends for Christ. Challenged by the church’s motto of Know, Grow, Do, we decided to step out and DO in a way that could reach out to the community.
June 24 we hosted a pool party at the Nolensville pool. We had over 70 students at our “It’s Not Just A Pool Party” where we watched a movie pool side, feasted on snacks and hung out with friends from all over. The students did a phenomenal job inviting friends and we were able to reach out to the community and build relationships with students who may have never been involved with a church before! The success of this event was an exciting beginning to the summer and a great way for our ministry to engage with students outside of our church!
